Lebron James is beginning his 16th NBA season soon and I’m publishing Dividend Income Update number Sixteen (how fitting).
It was another triple digit month of growth for RTC. Overall, the portfolio earned $38.79 in dividend income from 7 different companies. This represents a 368% year over year increase compared to September 2017. Furthermore, dividend income is up $5.63 over the previous quarter due to a new company being purchased.
In total, I have received $260.08 in dividend income since January of this year. That’s quite an increase over the $58.14 that was earned in 2017. Even with 3 months to go, this already represents a 347% increase. I’d say it’s pretty obvious that dividend investing works.

RTC Management Commentary on Dividend Income Update Sixteen
I reached out to the RTC Board of Directors (BoD) for comments but they declined. Well, I got an auto response e-mail that seemed to indicate they were off boating.
Nevertheless, it appears the BoD is satisfied with the results. I did receive one short response from the portfolio manager, who is a member of the Board.
Here is his response:
Thanks for reaching out.
The rest of the Board and I are off boating for the weekend. We booked a few cabins down on the water to relax and prepare for the next quarter. We trust that you’ll be able to publish the results on your own without comments from the Board. For the record, the BoD is very happy with the results, especially considering the projection for next month.
Keep it up, old sport!

Concluding Thoughts
I could have talked about the recent trip I took to Coburg, Ontario where I took all these photos. But instead, I decided to make up some story about the Board of Directors and the portfolio manager.
Nevertheless, the portfolio is in a great place going into the final quarter of the year. We will soon reach a new dividend income record for one month, and the portfolio is reaching a point where income levels are beginning to become substantial. I mean, it’s not enough income to be financially independent. But an extra $500 per year is meaningful. The moment I surpass $501 I’m more than half way to $1,000 in annual dividend income. It’s pretty neat to have documented this process over the past two years.
To close, the portfolio has generated $260.08 this year and $38.79 in September. Now that the year is coming to an end, it’s becoming easier to predict the final tally of dividend income this year. Based on the projections, I should receive approximately $370 from dividend stocks this year. However, the portfolio will already be in a great position to generate more than $500 in 2019. I will just need to close the gap to $1,000 by the end of the year to stay on track with the 5 year plan.
