Budget friendly meal plan: 7 delicious meals for less than $100 per week (2 people). Stop wasting money on delivery and eat fresher meals.
The amount of money people spend on unhealthy, low-quality, stale delivery food honestly blows my mind.
As if making food at home is such a task.
I mean, people will jump through hoops for their job. They will seemingly do anything to climb the corporate ladder, make more money, or develop skills.
But when it comes to nurturing themselves, they aren’t willing to put in any effort at all. They just want to order cold, moist, trash, overpriced delivery food and lay on the couch with a beer.
It’s ironic because proper nutrition and a healthy diet would likely lead to a longer, more productive career.
Personally, I see this behaviour as moronic, illogical, unclean, and costly.
In truth, it doesn’t take much time or effort to develop a budget friendly meal plan.
If you are going to exert so much effort and time trying to make money at a career, why not care about saving money and preserving your own health?
In this post, I will show you a delicious budget friendly meal plan for two that is easy to make and cost effective.
Let’s dive into 7 delicious meals that cost less than $100 per week.
Budget Friendly Meal Plan: 7 Delicious Meals For Less $100 Per Week
Budget Friendly Meal Plan: 7 Delicious Meals For Less $100 Per Week
1. Tacos
Tacos are my favourite food. There’s no doubt about it.
In fact, I could easily have them two nights per week.
The best part is that taco night is easy to make and easy on the wallet.
An Old El Paso Taco kit costs less than $5, and a pack of ground beef is around $6. Otherwise, you just need beans, frozen corn, cilantro, and a pepper.
In total, you can make a tacos for less than $15, because the other ingredients can be used for various recipes during the week, and you may already have them at home anyways. You only need to use a third of a can of beans, half a pepper, and only a small amount of the frozen corn.
Best of all, the entire meal can be made in 20 minutes or less.
Of course, the Old El Paso taco kits are higher in sodium. So, it’s not the healthiest meal on the list. To make it healthier, try visiting an organic grocery store to get higher quality ingredients. For a little more, you can get grass-fed beef, lower sodium seasoning, and better taco shells.
Even though it’s more expensive, it’s still cheaper than visiting a restaurant.
2. Pasta Supper
Pasta is the ultimate low-cost meal.
It’s so cheap, it can even be part of a college student’s meal plan.
I’ll admit that pasta was one of my core meals in college.
The good news is that it still fits in an adult’s meal plan.
Of course, the adult version should include broccoli and chopped garlic.
For the perfect pasta supper, all you need is pasta noodles, sauce, broccoli, garlic, and sausage.
In total, you can make a delicious pasta supper for less than $15 for two people. You could easily make it cheaper by skipping meat.
But you could always get a pack of sausages that can be used for breakfast and pasta to get multiple meals out of it.
If you are looking for a healthier version, try organic pasta sauce.
Regarding the cooking time, this meal is another one that can be made in 30 minutes.
3. Pork Tenderloin + Rice + Vegetable Supper
A pork tenderloin supper is quickly becoming one of my weekly staples over the past year.
For around $5 to $7, you can pick up a pork tenderloin and then you can combine that with a carb and vegetable.
I prefer to combine it with rice and green beans.
Although it takes slightly longer to bake, it is mostly a hands-off meal. Because the pork tenderloin just bakes in the oven and the rice can be boiled.
For an extra tasty pork tenderloin, make sure to marinate it for a few hours before you bake it.
In total, the entire meal can be made for around $12 to $15.
4. Chicken Breast + Couscous + Vegetable Supper
Another great meal that can be a staple in a budget friendly meal plan is a chicken breast dinner.
The key to this meal is to pick up a pack of boneless chicken breasts at the beginning of the week. Then, you can use the chicken breasts in 2 to 3 meals.
Similar to the pork tenderloin, you just need to bake the chicken and combine it with a carb and vegetable.
One of the easy carb options that can be made in minutes is couscous. To make sure it’s not bland, try adding a chicken-flavoured broth.
In total, this meal can be made for around $10 to $12 depending on the price of the chicken breasts.
5. Chicken Caesar Salad
Another super easy-to-make meal is a chicken caesar salad.
To make this meal, you need lettuce or a green, dressing, croutons, chicken breast or strips, pepper, a lemon, and any other vegetables you wish to add.
It’s a cost effective meal if you use the same pack of chicken breast you bought for the chicken breast meal.
Another option to reduce the cost is to cut the chicken breasts in half and eat less meat.
If you already have the dressing, this meal can easily be made for less than $10.
6. Big Breakfast
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Well, it’s also one of the cheapest and easiest to make.
Who says it’s only a good option for breakfast?
If you still have sausages left over from the pasta supper, you just need eggs, potatoes, bread, and maybe a green.
If you already have eggs and sausages, this might be the cheapest meal on the list. You could probably make it for $7 to $10 for two people.
7. Rice or Noodle Stir-fry
It’s getting close to the end of the week and you are running out of groceries.
All you have left is bits and pieces from your other recipes.
What do you do now? Order out?
Hell no!
Why would would want someone to bring cold, moist, stale, overpriced food to your door when you could make your own concoction at home?
What I like to do at this point is make chicken fried rice or a noodle stir fry.
Of course, you will need to have a few ingredients in advance such as soy sauce, hot sauce or sriracha.
But if you pick those up in advance, they last long and can be used at the end of every week to put a meal together.
This is another meal that can be put together for $10 or less, which is probably about the price of your usual delivery fee.
Budget Friendly Meal Plan – Final Thoughts
In conclusion, these 7 delicious meals can be made for less than $100 a week.
They are easy to make, cost effective, and a lot fresher than Uber Eats.
Personally, I’ll never understand why people are so lazy and careless when it comes to cooking.
I realize that it requires more time and that people are tired after working 40-hour weeks.
But you have to ask yourself, what’s more important than your money or your health?
If your job is so bad that it makes you spend extra money on garbage food, maybe you should find a better job.
Moreover, if your job makes you spend more money on food, the extra money you are making might not even be worth it.
